Located at the crossroads of Arizona’s ranch and wine country, the Sonoita Inn is an ideal experience for travelers who want to get away to slower times.
Built in 1980 by Margaret Carmichael, co-owner of Secretariat, the Sonoita Inn was converted in 1999 by the Wystrach family into a southern Arizona “getaway to the county.”
Photographs, press clippings, and racing programs from Secretariat’s career are still on display in the lobby today.
Each of the inn’s 18 rooms is named for a local ranching family with deep roots in the area. Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, with pillowtop beds, flat-screen TVs, and views of the surrounding mountains and grasslands.
Locally known as the perfect traveler’s basecamp, the Sonoita Inn offers easy access to everything the Sky Islands region of southern Arizona has to offer.
