This year’s County Fair promises to be a spectacular celebration of our agricultural heritage. Under the theme “From Farm to Fair—Celebration of Agriculture,” the fair will showcase the best of local farming, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the rich traditions and innovations of our agricultural community.
Fairgoers can look forward to a variety of exhibits, interactive displays, and, most importantly, 4-H and FFA Livestock Shows and Auction, highlighting the journey from farm to table.
The 109th Santa Cruz County Fair will feature a wide array of events, including the “Bounty from the County,” showcasing products made and produced in Santa Cruz County.
The Perishable Foods Contest will challenge participants to create delicious dishes using fresh ingredients.
The first annual Chili Cook-Off will spice things up, while the Pee Wee Livestock Show will give young aspiring 4-H and FFA kids a chance to shine.
Vintage tractor enthusiasts can marvel at a collection of restored machines and the carnival will provide fun and excitement for all ages.
Additionally, live music performances will set the perfect backdrop for the festivities, and an amazing lineup of food vendors will offer a taste of local flavors. Attendees can also indulge in classic fair food favorites such as funnel cakes, corn dogs and cotton candy.
The heritage of the working cowboy and horse will be on full display in the west arena as The Southern Arizona Cutting Horse Association and Vera Earl Ranch host a two-day cutting horse competition.
The Bowman-Stradling History Center will feature a mammoth exhibit that was discovered in Elgin in 1968 by 12-year-old Juan Padilla. “It is like one of our own is coming home for a visit,” says local historian Cami Cheatham Schlappy.
This year’s theme emphasizes the vital role agriculture plays in our lives and celebrates the bounty and beauty of our rural landscape.
